Imagine you’re building a house. You’ve been working on it for ages, for years even. And before you, others came and added to it, bit by bit.
How to “call people out” by the Otherkin tag:
Hey, I can understand that. The tumblr otherkin community consists of crazies
and a small handful of paedos
I would like to clarify a few things, before I continue my regular blogging.
First things first, I don’t hate otherkin. I completely believe in...
I’ve seen more posts and heard more about things like barking, growling, howling, etc. in public.
For me, although I may...
Just in case anyone had any lingering doubts that M-S and her anon asks/submissions are trolling (despite the clear evidence contained in her very first post) a highlight from her latest post:
All the while, I was spending so much time online insisting that otherkin were sane, normal, and just as well adjusted as anyone else.
Context: this person is claiming to have been part of the online therian community throughout middle school and high school. They’re claiming to be 23 now, and to have started participating in the therian community when they were 13. So we’re looking at the period from 2002 through 2007.
Thing is, therians at that time did not spend time insisting that otherkin were anything. Why? Because the vast majority of therians at that time did not consider themselves otherkin. The two communities were largely separate due to the notion that therians believed they were creatures that actually exist while otherkin were creatures that had never existed (or, on the otherkin side of things, that otherkin were sentient and/or magical creatures and therians were nonsentient and/or nonmagical). It’s fairly recently that it’s become common for therians to view themselves as animal-kin and accept the otherkin label.
