Jarandhel's Tumblr

An older otherkin getting on tumblr. I'm probably going to regret this.

Consider this an educational experience.

Just posting (again) that I know the people involved in the FF7 House stuff and can confirm that it’s true.  Renee/Hojo/Metatron/etc ran the angelkin mailing list prior to me (though I’d previously been a co-mod under another owner) and I’m still cleaning up the mess.

darkstarsystem:

Fictive: A person from fictional sources, who is adopted into the mindspace of another person… Having fictive persons in the group is a form of hosting. (Astraea’s Web Glossary)

FictionKin: Someone who believes they have the soul or identity of a fictional character.  (Soulbonding.net Glossary)

There’s actually much less of a divide between the two terms than some would like to believe.

Roger Ten and other members of Clan Ten, who first coined the term Otakukin and who were the first fictionkin to go public with their identities in the community, fit both definitions - they both considered themselves to have the souls of fictional characters and hosted others from the same fictional works.

Otakukin was coined to refer to all of them, collectively.  Fictionkin/Mediakin later came into use to clarify that one didn’t need to be associated specifically with manga or anime.

Fictives on the other hand seems to have largely been popularized as a term by multiples who have fictionkin headmates but otherwise don’t wish to be associated with the otherkin community, much like the original soulbonders.

Starting to wonder if some of the self-identified “fictives”, as tumblr has come to use the term, are what once would have been considered “soulbonds” rather than fictionkin/mediakin/otakukin.  And yes, admittedly the line has always been somewhat blurry.

First link is a 404.

Secondly, for us, we’re not in contact, they reside in my headspace.

An extra space got inserted at the end of the link.  Delete it and the link should work fine.  As for the headspace vs in contact distinction, from what I’ve seen of the soulbonding community that really isn’t unusual.  From the soulbonding.net website:

How is functional multiplicity different from soulbonding? That’s a tricky question, and really one that you must decide for yourself. I admit I do not really have a quick, concise answer for it. Put bluntly, it isn’t all that different. In both cases, a person is sharing his or her mind with headmates who may front on occasion, and in both cases, this does not cause major problems in the person’s life.

I can’t find the original post at the moment, but I believe someone was asking the other day about a blog for fictionkin/fictives to find others from the same place?

This exists.  Just not on tumblr.  http://findingverse.livejournal.com/profile
